Infection and disease control practices and
techniques are presented to assist child caregivers in successfully maintaining
a healthy environment for children. Through classroom discussion and exercises,
participants will be able to apply health practices for disease control,
illness detection, cleanliness, and basic hygiene in the license child care
setting.
Objectives
After completing this class, participants will:
- Recognize when to exclude a sick child and notify parents of a child’s illness.
- Identify common childhood diseases that can be seen in a child care center
- Describe universal precautions
- Demonstrate proper hand washing techniques
- Recognize good hygiene practices utilized in a daycare center
